About this Event
The Centre for Migration, Refugees and Belonging (CMRB) is delighted to invite you to a talk where we will explore the Living Refugee Archive (LRA) digital archives and findings from our recent digital storytelling research project on the educational experiences of refugees in the Middle East. The event will feature talks from Paul Dudman, Prof. Giorgia Dona and Jessica Oddy.
Paul Dudman is the UEL Archivist and responsible for the Refugee Council Archive and Living Refugee Archive Online Portal. Paul will talk about the challenges associated with the ethical approaches to documenting narrative stories in the digital sphere.
Prof. Giorgia Dona is co-director of the Centre for Migration, Refugees and Belonging at UEL. She will discuss how the power of personal narratives, how narratives can fulfil multiple functions (agency, well-being) and as a methodology can help to achieve greater power and offer direct representation.
Jessica Oddy is a Ph.D student at the Centre for Migration, Refugee and Belonging. She will talk about the educational life stories collected from the Digital Storytelling project and discuss the importance of critical participatory action research methods.
Please register on Eventbrite – the event is free to attend and will be held on Microsoft Teams. Your confirmation email will include the link to join the meeting, and this will also be emailed to you on the day.
