Supporting International Human Rights Day on 10th December, the University of East London is hosting an exciting day of events to raise awareness and funds for organisations supporting refugees across the campuses.

The day will include:

  • 11.00-16.00 Meet charities and organisations supporting refugees Docklands East Building Atrium
  • 11.30-15.00 RefuTea party with tea and cakes. Cake donations welcome! The Hub, Docklands
  • 12.30 and 14.00 TED talk: Melissa Fleming- a boat carrying 500 refugees sunk at sea. The story of two survivors. Students’ Union, The Dome, Stratford
  • 14.00-16.00 Film Screening: A Syrian Love Story.Students’ Union Lounge, Docklands
  • 16.00-17.00 Citizenship Quiz: Hosted by Rita Chadha from RAMFEL (Refugee and Migrant Forum of Essex and London The Hub, Docklands
  • 17.00-18.00 Amnesty International Workshop: Workshop on the Refugee, Asylum and Migrant Campaign. USS 4.15, Stratford USS
  •  17.00-19.00 The Refugee Crisis, Experiences and Perspectives: A Panel Discussion with Key Speakers: Mr Don Flynn, Director of Migrants’ Rights Network, Stephen Timms, Labour MP for East Ham,  Hassan, a Syrian asylum seeker  and Paul Dudman, UEL Refugee Archives. This will be accompanied by some delicious Syrian food, The Hub, Docklands
