In a world of information overload and the attention economy, how do we as women cut through the noise of today’s clickbait media? Learn from some of the leading voices in the industry during an evening of inspiring conversation hosted by co-founder of shado, Hannah Robathan.

Bringing together a panel of young female journalists disrupting narratives in the mainstream press, we’ll explore how the tone, format and interests of women’s media is changing. Hannah will be joined by executive editor of Vice and author of the ‘Forgotten Women’ series, Zing Tsjeng, Dazed features editor, and author of ‘Queer Intentions: A (Personal) Journey Through LGBTQ+ Culture’, Amelia Abraham, and lifestyle editor of gal-dem and co-author of ‘I Will Not Be Erased’, Niellah Arboine, to find out how the new generation of female writers are using the power of storytelling to create change. They will share their tips for rewriting the rulebook to produce journalism that is relevant, engaging and, most of all, empowering.

Amelia Abraham

Amelia Abraham (b. 1991) is a journalist and author from London. She has worked as a commissioning editor at VICE, Refinery29 and is currently Features Editor at Dazed. She also writes for The Guardian, Observer, Independent, Sunday Times, New Statesman, ES Magazine, i-D Magazine and British Vogue. Her main interest is LGBTQ+ culture and politics, and her first book, Queer Intentions: A (Personal) Journey Through LGBTQ+ Culture was released with Picador in May 2019. She is currently writing her second book for Penguin
